in a news nutshell

in a news nutshell zurück zum Inhalt BiPopularity Carola Schmidt, born in Horn, Lower Austria, studied from 2002 to 2007 at the Berlin University of the Arts, attending the class of Rebecca Horn. In 2008, she was awarded with the Diagonale best newcomer prize, followed by numerous awards for her music and video art. In 2012, she created her alter ego Lulu Schmidt, a one-woman-music-performance act (electronics, violin, piano, vocals and interactive sensors and wearable technology). Since the beginning of her career, she has drawn upon her Fine Arts education to develop a comprehensive © nhoah-hoena Lulu-Schmidt-HAPPYANDIHATEIT live concept that integrates light, stage design and costume. Lulu Schmidt combines different influences and styles - from classical and electronic music to pop - and performs in clubs, at Austrian and international festivals, as well as in museums and other artistic environments. And her music is played on the radio. Currently she lives and works in Berlin. Lulu Schmidt‘s debut album „BiPopularity“ will be released on June 16, 2019. „Play“ is one song from the upcoming Album. The official music video has been shot by director Adriana Berroteran with Lulu Schmidt in the studio of R.O.T. Records in Berlin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcdTSJHsKjw In her second single „Fire“, Lulu Schmidt focuses on the common beauty ideals of the music business. http://smarturl.it/luluschmidtplay www.luluschmidt.com ©rupert-hoeller_matthias-helldoppler + + + + + S3DAPC Europe’s Third Student 3D Audio Production Competition All students dealing with spatial music or spatial recording are invited to participate by submitting short works to the Third Student 3D Audio Production Competition for one of the three categories: Contemporary / Computer music (11min); Audio drama / Documentary / Soundscapes (4min); Music recording / Studio production (4min). An international jury will review the contributions and will also select the top ranked works to be presented and discussed at 5th ICSA (5th International Conference on Spatial Audio, September 26 - 28) 2019 in Ilmenau, Germany. As a main part in the program of ICSA 2019, S3DAPC will include public listening and discussion sessions in the evening with the jury and the authors of successful works. Submission deadline will be end of June 2019 [easychair-link-s3dapc2019] https://ambisonics.iem.at/s3dapc/2019 Silk Road as animated, digital exhibit One of the Hong Kong Science Museum’s latest exhibitions displayed the entire 30-metre-long Landscape Map of the Silk Road bringing to life the everyday activities of people who lived along the Silk Road through vivid animations. The original map was created as a painting for the Jiajing Emperor in the Ming dynasty. With more than 200 cities marked on the map, ranging from the Jiayu Pass in Gansu Province in the east to Mecca in Saudi Arabia in the west, it demonstrated that the Chinese had grasped a very clear geographical understanding of the Silk Road thanks to centuries of trade. For the recent exhibition, the museum oversaw the fabrication and installation of a 32 x 3 meter edge blending projection that would allow visitors to experience the Landscape Map of the Silk Road as an animated, digital exhibit. The install was designed, supplied and system integrated by Cosmo Pro AV, and ran from December 2018 until February 2019. In order to achieve the flexibility and power necessary for such a demanding project two AV Stumpfl PIXERA media servers were used. Cosmo Pro AV’s Jason Yeung commented: “The Hong Kong Science Museum approached us to provide a comprehensive solution for the edge blending projection. The system needed to be flexible above all else, as the museum planned to experiment with multi-layered playback, bringing the traditional art pieces to life with animations.” Cosmo Pro AV specified a pair of AV Stumpfl’s new PIXERA two Quad media servers, complete with AV Stumpfl media server software for edge blending and show control. This system was set up to remotely control 8 Vivitek DU7090Z Laser illuminated Projectors. Yeung continued: “The visual part of the system was not overly complex, but the museum required show control to be implemented without any external devices or hardware. This played to AV Stumpfl’s strengths with the full integration of AV Stumpfl‘s Touch and AVIO. The PIXERA two servers themselves provided a very pricecompetitive solution, and the compact chassis enabled minimum rack and storage space. AV Stumpfl media server software was chosen for this project because of its flexibility to integrate with Touch and AVIO, which controlled the audio level adjustments, scheduled on/off and projector on/off and status reports.” The eight laser projectors were placed opposite the 32m canvas, though the team from Cosmo Pro AV had limited access to them once they were installed. As a result, the projectors had to be 100% remotely controlled and triggered over network via AV Stumpfl‘s AVIO, due to the fact that no © AV Stumpfl remote IR signal could reach the placement area. “As the lighting conditions varied constantly during the setup process,” Yeung added, “we were lucky to have the flexibility of the Vioso calibrator to adjust individual output colour adjustments and edge blending curves for a smooth and seamless picture.” Due to the temporary nature of the exhibit, the team experienced times where the projection image would shift over a period of time and have to be maintained. “By setting up a wireless network across the PIXERA servers, we enabled our programmers to wirelessly access and adjust the edge blends,” Yeung said. www.avstumpfl.com MEDIA BIZ
